Re: Pound Ridge, NY 10/17/15

The show was great. Dave said something like, "I like all your Halloween Costumes. We're all dressed up as Cold Dudes." Funny guy that one! I have a decent video of standard extended Whatcha Need. Dave mistakes Pound Ridge for Stanford CT (I assume they came from there or where staying there). Reall...

Re: Soulasylum.com Update

Yeah, the new offical SA site is definitely an upgrade . . . no ads or pop ups. Nowadays, random pop ups when navigating LEGIT websites are usually an indication of something being awry on the user end system, not the website itself.

Re: California Shows, April 2013

I agree it's a bit odd to see SA without Dan but respectfully disagree about the other (new) members lack of participation in the live show. For better or for worse, it IS the Dave Show now. I say this is certainly for the better, as the alternative is no Soul Asylum at all. Also, aside from some no...

Re: California Shows, April 2013

It's pretty impressive how a guy who presumably knew only a couple of the songs and just drove in to San Diego to meet the band for the show can pull off a respectable job. He had to stare at sheet music nearly the entire time he was drumming but still pulled off most of the fills, breaks, etc., pre...

Re: California Shows, April 2013

FYI. Went to the Solana Beach show. A new drummer joined for his first gig with SA. Dave said Michael has a "very bad leg" and wanted to be there "more than anyone else." Drummer was reading sheet music and did a good job for a (presumably) very short notice assignment. They played a long acoustic s...

Re: California Shows, April 2013

I live in LA and am going to the San Diego and LA shows for certain. I may be up for driving to the SAC show as well. I have a car. Either way, I'll be happy to meet up with you at the San Diego show. Been to over 30 SA shows; can't wait to add some more to the list! John hurtsinagoodway@gmail.com

80's Gig Flyer From Denver

This is from one of the shows that never happened due to van breakdowns. I found out at the venue and they had a couple handbills lying around so I grabbed a few. It's quite possible these are the only ones around. Anyhow, I have an extra for trade for whatever, prefer music. I can post a photo if a...

Re: A message from Soul Asylum

I’m really bummed to see Danny go; REALLY bummed. Been of fan since the ’80; probably seen over 40 shows. Love this guy . . . but that said, I’m sure he is doing what is best for him and I for one would much rather have a Danny-less SA than an SA with a Danny who’s heart is just no longer in it . . ...

Re: ~survey~

Since this board's been so quiet lately and I'm procrastinating a paper on the history of the Internet, I decided to make up a little survey. 1. Your age and/or year and place the first time you saw SA. 21, IRVING PLACE, NYC, OPENING FOR HUSKER DU CIRCA LATE 80'S 2. Best opening act for SA you've ev...
