I did not expect that kind of solo in Runaway Train, but... I like it.
If anyone has a chance check out youtube footage of the Joel Plaskett stuff. He's a really clever songwriter. His former band (late '90's) was called Thrush Hermit and he's made a bunch of albums since.

Thanks. That was a cool interview. Oh, the stories that man could tell..if he wanted to, of a long rock and roll life.

Re: The mats
I'll unfortunately be away the day of the Toronto show, not sure of the others. I agree, a small club/ theatre tour would be great and I would road trip for that. I never thought that this would happen. What's next... the Smiths?

Re: Your "LP Tour" fantasy lineup
I think Moe Berg (the singer in TPOH) doesn't live too far from where I live in Toronto. Back in 1998 when Dave & Dan did a duo gig here I saw Moe go back stage around sound check. A nice guy he is. Their first album Love Junk is excellent as well as the second. I'm glad you guys know of them.

Interesting choices. The Pursuit of Happiness was a pleasant surprise : ) Mellon Collie would be wild and Pinkerton, also great. I don't know what I would choose...

Re: Dave Pirner confirms new Soul Asylum album!
Yes,
not only how soon will it be released, but it's a question of new songs or is it the cover song project that they've been talking about. I'd prefer new, but either would be good.

Ya, Cradle Chain, Creatures of Habit, See You Later, No Time For Waiting should be re-visited. There's some good writing there! Oh ya, Close is... there. A really good album sonically. Why do people not like it? One of my favourites... It's kinda moody.

Re: 2013 Articles and Interviews
"Candy" is great. I saw a Dave & Dan promo gig here in Toronto in 1998 and they played "the game", "New York blackout", "Blood into wine", "close" and the usual acoustic songs which was really cool. Many songs on "candy" are underrated. I would like to see a few pop up again live.
