Re: Your Most Recent Show?

Over the past weekend, I was in little rock for the white water taverns holiday hang out, aka happy birthday Travis of last chance records. Anyhow, this was mostly a Friday and Saturday event with two cow garge, slobberbone, and glossary headlining. I was at th same thing last year, and hope to be t...

Re: 2012 July 28th - Hoyt Lakes Water Carnival, Hoyt Lakes,

Dave isn't exactly a superstar anymore, and his autograph isn't worth much. Maybe if you had a cool poster iit would be worth a few bucks more if the and signed it, but not likely more than $5. Normally Dave makes it out to someone, so it will be worth less than that (I'm pretty sure he learned to m...

Re: Best albums of 2011

I love the Bon Iver's album Emma. The best album by Bon Iver is For Emma, Forever Ago which is ranked number 103 in the overall greatest album chart with a total rank score of 9,601. the album isn't bad, but it's kind of dull. I bought it off a recommendation a few years ago, and I guess I just don...

Re: Collectors Corner

My copy is a promo VHS tape (the only way it was ever issued) that I bought for over $200. It seems crazy but my point was to get it and share it as much as possible. I have been a collector of many bands and I've always hated "tape hoarders" . They are people who have shows but will not share them...

Re: Dave Pirner

I'll preface this with my feelings that Dave is brilliant, and a master songsman etc. I'm sure you know my view by now, I don't really think Soul Asylum should continue on in its present form. Its just kind of painful to see it, I'm sure they're still amazing musicians, and sound great, but what is t...

Re: A message from Dan Murphy

Crazy. Not sure it wil be the same, but I guess im glad the band will keep going. Perhaps dan will do solo stuff? Golden Smog? Or is he just out and done? From what I'm reading on news sites, it seems more that Dan was really sick of the music business, and wanted less and less to do with it as tim...

Re: A message from Dan Murphy

It's difficult to express just what this means to me, beyond the obvious that Soul Asylum is no more (the label can stay attached to Dave/Michael if they want, but that doesn't make it Soul Asylum)... I hope the end of the line gets respected, as I'm sure it was a long time coming. After the band ha...

Re: Your Most Recent Show?

I just came back from Hardly Strictly Bluesgrass in San Francisco. A very fun, but long 3 days... Trying to remember the exact bands I saw there (only listing bands I went specifically to see, and not ones I saw waiting for shows): 1. Chuck Prophet 2. Patterson Hood and the ramblers 3. Jon Langford ...

Re: Crazy chat last night.

Actually, in the late 90s/early 00s, much of the chat discussion wasn't about SA, just people hanging out and talking. Sometimes we did name that tune, other times I remember helping someone with her calculus homework. So don't feel bad if the chat isn't 100% band related. :) Don't forget long disc...
