89.3 In Studio Performance?

So I listen to the Current everyday(they play a Soul Asylum Song and a Replacements song at least once a day), I'd requested gravity many times and the folks at the station know me as a long time fan of the band. I requested the song yesterday because I was pissed my Edit version I paid for from iTu...

Re: 2012 July 19th - Seventh Street Entry, Minneapolis, MN

I got mine today, got a sitter for both nights, tickets for both nights, going stag to the Entry show so I can be crazy, and an extra ticket on the First Ave show so I can hopefully try this single father dating thing. I figure if I can find a girl that loves Soul Asylum as much as me we could alway...

Ha Ha! Country Twangy version of Cartoon

Check out this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HspdoyVLJ38&feature=youtube_gdata_player So I was inspired to record this butchered version of Cartoon yesterday, I fuck up once or twice, and never quite figured out how to incorporate the Dave and Dan parralell singing part Into my so...

Re: Iffy "the band" w/ Soul Asylum in Chicago

There is a general theme that flows through RWR and Iffy, but the latter was definitely more pop and less thrashy punk. I saw Iffy several times, I think there was plans for a second album, or least it was mentioned, and then it was as if they all but disappeared. I still play that Iffy disc pretty ...

Re: 2011-09-09 - Dave solo acoustic - St Paul

That video of Dave is at McNally Smith school for music, he was a part of a Q&A session for a class. Chris Osgood teaches there so it most likely was for his class.

Re: golden smog

Pandora is an awesome thing if you are interested in exploring new music. I discovered that I really, really like Ryan Adams, all because of Pandora injecting his work into my mix and infecting me. Talented fucker, wish I was there to see that meltdown at First Ave. I love the Golden Smog station as...

Re: 2011-09-09 - Dave solo acoustic - St Paul

He never played that Vic Chestnut song, which I'm assuming was going to be "When I Ran Off and Left Her". I was there with my 4 year old son, who enjoyed it at first but grew restless and I had to walk laps around the park and listen to the last few songs. Dave started early and that was nice, I thi...

Re: Pirner show - Feb 18th Dresser Wisconsin

I made it, I was sitting at the table up front center with my GF. I actually wrote up a nice long winded review this morning but lost it cause i got logged off from the forum while i was typing it out. Sucks. I recorded all of the show except Get On Out. I actually was really pumped to watch the sho...
