Re: Orlando aug26

Dave was indeed super nice. He commented on Peggy's Ferret shirt from the stage, which meant a lot to her. They played "Stranger" for Miss Fitt 2, which rocked, and I'm definitely not complaining about free drinks :) Just another great show from this awesome band. I'm either over 30 or in my upper 2...

Re: whats the best soul asylum t shirt you have?

Hand to God - A few years back, I was walking around Uptown in Mpls and Dan Murphy's ex-wife was having a yard sale. I got to buy what I think is the Zenith t-shirt Dave's wearing on ...Horse. Pretty sweet.

Hold Steady lyric nod to SA?

Line from The Hold Steady's new song Hurricane J - "You're a beautiful girl and you're a pretty good waitress". Think it might be a nod to SA's "To My Own Devices"? Could be, as Dave sang on their Boys & Girls in America album, and Craig Finn is nothing if not referential, which he has said he got p...

Re: Favorite Golden Smog Album

I'd put them in the order of: - Mainstream - For me, this was the first time the Smog whole became greater than the sum of its parts. You had Jeff Tweedy in the mix, the revelation that Kraig Johnson could write songs (Friend!), Dave's appearance on 'Nowhere Bound' - when he came onstage at Grand Ol...

Re: What is your favorite song on Grave Dancers Union?

I had a hard time deciding on a #1 song, which probably illustrates what a great album this is with so many fine songs to pick from. I ultimately went with "Growing Into You" which maybe gets a little overlooked and I think reflects, for me, SA as a band at their electric best and some fine lyricism...

Re: Favorite SA tracks

I just went to a wedding in TX, so I'll borrow from that theme: Something old - "Stranger" (unplugged version w/harp - great to hear last Thurs; honorable mention "Broken Glass", which definitely would have gotten higher billing over "Stranger" in my younger days, when Time's Incinerator wasn't a "c...

Re: What was the first Soul Asylum album you listened to?

In order: Hang Time (on tape - can you go wrong with Sometime to Return back-to-back with Cartoon?); Clam Dip (another tape and I listened to this a TON the summer between my junior and senior yr of high school; Time's Incinerator (still have it); While You Were Out, Made to Be Broken, And the Horse...
