And if said poll was in favorable of this idea, maybe the band will catch wind of it. Couldn't hurt now would it?
I don't know that a poll makes sense. It's just an idea, not really something to vote on. It's kind of like the "dream set" thread. Fun to think and talk about, but I would never want to try and impose something on the band.

I was there, but wow, I don't remember that. I'll have to take a fresh listen to that show. I think I would jump out of my skin if they ever played Whoa!

I do remember someone requesting Nice Guys at the Fine Line show and Dave playing/singing a couple of lines and the audience helping with the lyrics.

Also something of a trend these days is having a poll on the band's website where fans can vote for songs they want to hear at the shows they will attend. At least two bands that I follow do this (Wilco, Los Lobos). However, the top ten vote getters are usually songs the bands always play anyway. So many good votes gone to waste, sigh. Still, maybe SA could try this for a tour, if the poll was hosted here.

For SA, their internet base might end up being very different than the crowd at most of the shows. I doubt too many of us would be voting to want to see Runaway Train, Somebody To Shove, Black Gold etc... Not because they aren't good songs, but because we've seen them so many times. We'd be pulling out requests for the really obscure stuff I think. Sure there'd be plenty of votes for Cartoon, Sometime to Return, Closer To the Stars, All Is Well, etc, but I think we'd really have a lot for the older stuff. Of course, we all argue over what are the best songs, so that's a hard decision anyhow. But I do think a good chunk of the songs played at every show would be ignored by a large number of us, even though it's obvious that isn't really what the fanbase at large wants.

yeah I guess my poll idea would more along the lines of "should they or shouldn't they feature songs from those albums"? Versus a poll of what greatest hits people wanted to hear.

Anyway, I was incorrect about that Fine Line show and that is was in 2006 they played a couple notes of "something" after the song Whatcha Need. My guess it was Whoa!

here is a link for an excerpt what I heard that night. Maybe that could be it's own poll? http://www.sendspace.com/file/2vc27j

I think I remember Dave making a comment at the 2009 Christmas show about how they had thought about playing Horse in it's entirity.... but decided not too.

Funny, it is my 25th Anniversary too! Anyway, of course I would love to see many old songs, but I have been very happy with the treats that we have been given!

I was thinking maybe there could be a two night stand for the Christmas show at First Avenue (although not sure if this old person can handle it). With two nights we could probably here a few more gems and more new songs.... Dreaming....

They do seem to have been practicing,

I was there right in front of George who was playing bass this night. I don't remember either of these, not saying they didn't happen.

I do remember someone standing right in front of Dave, yelling out a song ( I couldn't hear it) and Dave bending down to hear said person (the stage is low/ you can get right up next to it) repeat their request and Dave shaking his head and mumbling ... "Sorry; I don't remember that one." Does anyone remember this?

I don't remember him saying this either; I must be getting old.

Back to back nights would be tough; logistically just to much stuff going on around this time of the year for consecutive nights and I am local. I can imagine how this would wreak havoc on out of town guests. Travel; extra hotel night, dinners, etc...

That's why a one night, double set makes sense.

Plus; do the guys play back to back nights anymore anyways?

Actually, a two night stand would make flying out there much more appealing to me. The one time I went, I stayed for 3 nights. Fortunately the Wild (hockey team) was home, so it gave me something else to do. (The band was going to play in Iowa too the next night after First Ave., but that got snowed out.)

Yeah, I agree. I think it is pretty difficult for a lot of us to even make it there for the one night, not to mention snow, roads, air travel, etc. holding us back. But in the long run everyone has a good time (cause that's what we're going there for). ;)

If they did happen to play a double set, they'd probably have to take a long decent break in between, cause I couldn't imagine playing 2x the amount of material (40 songs?) in a row... (or is that 2 shows spread apart in the day?) :P

If you're referring to back to back gigs as in the same location, yeah... its been a while (according to the archives). They still do seem to play a good handful of back to back gigs in different locations (traveling a pretty good distance overnight).

Their gig before last was back to back.

2010

December
30th House of Blues Houston, Texas
31st Atlanta Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Georgia

Plus they've recently played back to back to back a couple times last year.
