WOW, I do love some of REM's songs, but this article really does ring true: SOUL ASYLUM WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That might be the first modern thing I've read that pits SA against a band typically considered to be a classic alt rock band, with SA winning. It was good to read that. Most of the articles that praise SA seem to be from the late 80s and early 90s.

I do like REM too, as well as some of the "jangly" music that the article claims was inspired by REM.

It was a very interesting article. I am wondering how many SA fans are also REM fans. I love both bands. I find Michael Stipe's lyrics and Dave's lyrics to be very different but both songwriters inspire emotion. I can find myself smiling, laughing, or even crying. These bands are number 1 and 2 on my list. It is very telling that someone has finally caught a comparison between the two bands. I truly hope SA does not come to the same decision that the members of REM came to. Hope to see you all at a show sometime soon.

I think the hair comparison was ridiculous.

the only thing that matters is the music although REM has some great songs SA has tons more.and Daves a much better songwriter.

I have every REM album. Big Fan. SA is way way better.
