Cun front you...

Post by crawl »

For some reason I really focus on the emphasis put on confront it seems to make it a whole new word with a subliminal meaning . Thoughts?

I totally noticed this too! I love the emphasis. I like how you don't even mention the song title, but I immediately know what you mean. I think it mostly has to do with the rhythm of the rhymes and timing with the music (there's a word for that on the tip of my tongue, but...that works. cadence?). "confront" is usually said kinda as 'one piece' if you will, but with the structure of the song and the line that follows (...that i af-fect the things you do), it seems like that's the best way to sing that particular word. As far as the 'cun' part, I think that's just the common pronunciation. like i never CONfront people (I cunfrunt them), but when I do, we have a CONfrontation. English is weird. That song is good. Thanks for bringing it up, i thought i was weird for thinking so much about it ;)

Suddenly I am looking up alliteration http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alliteration, assonance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assonance, and consonance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literary_consonance

Non of which I think are just right. malaproprism? Darn, Ms Henry my HS English teacher would definitely know this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malapropism#Etymology

Interesting thought about the comfort, so that is another co that actually sounds cu.

Guess I am just going to go with poetic license, but somehow I think it might somehow be a PUN or would that be PUNk related.
