Unreleased songs 1999-2008 tracklist ?

Post by philipgar »

So, a while back I promised to make Woody a copy of the old never really been released CDs, as well as another disc of unreleased material since that time period. The songs that go on the CD should be either unreleased SA songs, or particularly good cover songs. There are a few exceptions to those rules, but that's the general idea.

As I'm lazy, i don't feel like tracking down exactly which songs from what shows should go on this disc. I'm appealing mostly to those of you who have bootlegs to help me decide on a tracklist for this. There are many songs where multiple versions exist, so I want to select the best amongst them.
So far, this is what i have. Please help add to this list of what you think belongs on such a disc.

Cover Songs
Medly - 5/22/04
Pants are too tight jam -10/15/05 (not really a cover, but well worth being included I think)

Unreleased songs
Dead Letter - 5/22/04
Cruel Intentions (should I use a recent version, or an older version?)
Be On My side - someone suggest a date
Debris
Freak Accident
Uber Computer - (first fineline show, 2001)
I'll Take You There
What's The Use - Bowery Ballroom (?)
Showtime
Hurricane
Directions

I know i'm missing quite a bit in here, and really need dates. I have tons of shows, but don't want to go searching through them to figure out which ones are best.

Covers: Just Like Heaven (2/16/2002), a Midnight Medley (New Years Eve 2002), Clampdown (NYE 2002), Should I Stay or Should I go (6/3/01)

presumably SA songs: True Believer (there were a few dates I think), Hallowed Ground (2/16/2002, probably others)

Be on My Side was played at the Rock for Karl show. So was Debris.

I have no idea how many of those shows have been recorded, though.

Built To Last - 3/28/01 Fineline
Hurricane was also played at this show.

The Never Felt Before demo would be a good one to add.

A good version of Freak Accident was at the 400 Club (5/22/04) and another was at the 3/28/01 Fineline show.

Well, these are the best versions that I have:

Songs not released from pre-The Silver Lining era:
1.What’s the Use (3/28/01)
2. Hold It Down (SA original? - 3/16/01)
3. Hallowed Ground (2/16/02)
4. Built to Last (3/28/01)
5. Freak Accident (3/28/01)
6. True Believer (3/28/01)
7. Cruel Intentions (3/28/01)
8. Uber Computer (3/28/01)
9. Showtime (studio cut released on Japanese? TSL CD)
10. Debris (10/21/04)
11. Directions (5/22/04 or the studio demo version)
12. Dead Letter (5/22/04)
13. Be On My Side (10/26/05 or the studio version from myspace if you can grab it with wavepad or similar program)

Also, Hurricane if you count that, also from 3/28/01. For covers, you might as well throw whatever is on the 5/22/04 show, that's a good recording.

Oh, and if unreleased Dave solo material counts, throw in Volunteer from the August 2002 shows, all of which are comparable, and very good quality. At the Philly show he did a song possibly entitled Keep Coming Back - anybody know if that is an original or cover?

Doing a search for the Bowery Ballroom on the site brings up the year 2005. ;)

Never Felt Before is a good one, but it has been released, only as a smog song. Sure it's a slightly different song, but it was still released.... That said, it might make it depending on timing constraints (when I eventually get around to making it).

I really need to finish this project! I promised woody these CDs well over a year ago, and have been meaning to make them up, it's just difficult to come up with a track listing and what not. Then there are the many copies I need to make. I suppose if the band is recording soon, I better get my ass in gear so they might release some of these....
