Soul Asylum was mentioned on the March 2nd 2014 episode of "That Metal Show" on VH1 (episode #1307 featuring Leslie West & Mick Jones) Near the end of the program the 3 hosts talked about bands they really liked who don't get enough attention, Eddie Trunk held up 3 Soul Asylum cd's (Dim Light, Greatest Hits, Silver Lining) He mentioned Silver Lining as a personal favorite and referred to Dave as a "genius songwriter".

I've heard Eddie Trunk mention Soul Asylum in many interviews as a band he loves, and he always makes sure to mention that he thinks Dave Pirner is a phenomenal songwriter. In 2010, I drove from New York to New Jersey to see Soul Asylum at the Union County Music Fest, and Eddie Trunk was there watching them.

Sorry for my suggestion, but I think Delayed Reaction ROCKS very much. Dave is orginal w/ riffs, an awesome drummer, a great bass guitarist, and someone i was led to believe is a relative of Dan. I love this group, live. Gotta see more.

Dan was on Delayed Reaction. It came out in July 2012. He left in October 2012. And yes, Justin IS a relative of Dan's. They're second cousins.
