Feels to me like a cool way to break down the artificial barrier between artist&fan, I just wish some of the items were priced more for SA's relative popularity today as opposed to pricing them as if it were still the nineties

Are you familiar with Pledge campaigns? Here's a couple to check out, the SA prices and options are fairly in line with the norm:
Scott Weiland: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/scottweiland

Blues Traveler: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/bluestraveler

Hinder: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/hinder

The Clarks (an alt-rock/alt-country band is pretty popular in this part of the country). This band did a Pledge for a new album last year that had a lot of similar offerings as Soul Aslyum too, some stuff about the same price and some a bit less. Now the band is doing a covers album and have a smaller campaign for that project: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/theclarksrewind

I guess what I'm saying is, this is just how the Pledge campaigns work and what they offer and the price those things are offered for. They pretty much cover all price points and have something for everyone, from casual fan to super fan to collector to...I dunno everyone. I know it's different and that it some how seems more like "begging for money" to some people compared to back in the good ol' days when you'd go get a CD and Tshirt from a store after seeing bands on MTV. Or even buying merchandise after a show. The Pledge idea seems like it might be the way music is going to be sold now, more direct from artist to fan over the interwebs without so many middlemen. And packaged with stuff that was never really offered to fans before. But everything will be alright...do not be afraid! And it's maybe even kinda fun :)

Don't know if this will be of help to any of you who got experiences from PledgeMusic and are wondering how to redeem them. When I got a meet & greet in the past, the artist's management contacted me via email when it was over (when they were no longer selling perks) & I worked out which show it would be at & the rest of the details through her. I don't recall there being a way to pick a show when I ordered the perk. Don't know if all the details are the same now but I don't *think* you can show up to a show & claim your perk without working it out in advance with the band. Didn't want people showing up for shows thinking they had tickets only to find out they don't. If someone knows otherwise, please correct me.

Update: Guess you can pick the show when you order a m&g. Didn't see that before.

What should I expect for the meet and greet? I arranged mine for tomorrow.

I've only ever met bands after the show, asked nicely for an autograph and went on my way.

I've never paid a $15 premium per ticket before, so is there more to it?
