I seem to recall a radio show (right around the time Candy was released) which asked the question why Candy From a Stranger wasn't on the album, and Dave's response was something like, "Because Dan didn't think it wasn't good enough for the album". I'm sure there was a little more to it than that for it being omitted, but I do agree with lune ellise that Candy From a Stranger does sound more like a song from Dave's solo album (maybe its the piano and no backing vocals; funny how I don't feel the same way about We 3 on Horse though, maybe because Candy
didn't make the album).
While Candy From a Stranger might have sounded out of place on the album, I don't think it would have been out of place as much as Losin' It, which was actually released as a bonus track on
Candy in Japan. In my opinion, Losin' It has more of a GDU or LYDLS-type feel to it (especially the latter halves) where Candy seems to be more "laid back and mellow" throughout most of the album.
I'm curious as to what others think: If Candy was released on the album, would it seem out of place from the rest of the album, or would it go along with the other songs? I think it would go along well, especially since Horse has We 3, and even though its different from all the others, I can't picture it not being on there.
