What have been some of your favorite Soul Asylum moments from 2016?

My favourite moment is when the guitar player left the band without any mention right after the new album came out earlier this year and seven months later they still haven't said anything about it.

Hahaha! Not really funny but no other way to react at this point.

No 2016 moments for me. Unfortunately I had conflicts the nights they played locally and/or I couldn't justify the high cost of some of the theater shows this summer if they were just opening. The traveling caravan summer tour thing seems to be their meal ticket now. I hope they come around and headline some small clubs again. That winter tour in early 2013 was awesome. And come back to Mohegan Sun!

It has to be the release of the new album Change Of Fortune. Reviews of the album seem to be kind of mixed on here, but overall I think it's a pretty good record. Moonshine, Can't Help It and Supersonic are really great songs. My only gripe is there might be too much production on some of the songs. Maybe go with a new producer next time, they've had the same dude for the last 3 albums.

Definitely. Or they should try to record as a real band, by going into the studio together for a month and actually cutting it together, instead of recording it all seperately in different places across the country as they do now. Try to get more a live sound that way, that has always been their strength anyway.

I enjoyed having "Change Of Fortune" released this year. I like that the new record took some risks. I think Soul Asylum do well when they push musical boundaries.

I agree that a band should evolve and I applause them (or just Dave) for still doing that, but Change of Fortune is too overproduced in my opinion. It kinda sucks the life out of some songs.
