Minnesota Wild Foundation Benefit Album

Post by irreverentsoul »

Soul Asylum and Doomtree are among the seven Minnesota musical acts who have recorded their own version of the Minnesota Wild’s State of Hockey anthem song. The Wild is selling the tracks, along with exclusive band and team merchandise, via pledgemusic.com/wild.

Proceeds benefit the Minnesota Wild Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting the game of hockey and improving the lives of hockey families. Since 2009, it has granted more than $3 million to state nonprofits.

The State of Hockey anthem debuted during the Wild’s inaugural season home opener on Oct. 11, 2000. It was written by the late John Olson, founder and CEO of Olson, a local advertising agency and longtime Wild partner.

The 4onthefloor, Chris Hawkey Band, BNLX, Gramma’s Boyfriend and Dream Brother also contributed versions of the song.

An album with all seven tracks is available from PledgeMusic for $10. Several of the groups also signed Wild replica jerseys ($300) and hats ($40), while various packages of T-shirts, CDs and other merchandise are also up for sale.

“The State of Hockey Anthem is near and dear to the heart of our team and our fans,” said Rachel Schuldt, the foundation’s executive director, in a news release. “The Minnesota Wild Foundation is proud to be part of a project that will not only help us serve our community but is sure to engage and delight our fans while showcasing the incredible talent of the local musicians involved.
