Forever and a Day is a great song. Too bad they never put it on an album. Oh wait, they did, it's called Easy Street.

Seriously though, I think it's an awesome song. :D

PS. These files aren't going to corrupt themselves after awhile, are they? 'cause if they do I'm gonna be über pissed.

Thanks Mike, I've always enjoyed these Hang Time demos; thanks for putting them up (your "test" worked just fine). ;)

I've had the lyrics up to these songs for quite some time; now they can probably be put to a little bit better use (but probably better with your guys help). If anyone can help me decipher some (actually all) of the lyrics of these songs I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've always thought the beginning of Forever and a Day almost sounded a little like Hotel California; anyone else hear it?

Mike, thanks so much for sharing these! I hadn't downloaded from Rapidshare before. After the first song, I was told I'd reached the limit and had to wait a certain period of time. This is normal for free users, I'm guessing?

Anyway, I finally downloaded "There It Goes" just now, and am enjoying all the tracks, especially "Forever And a Day." I just fell in love with it at first listen...really. :P

Yea, sounds more like it to me from 0:06 to 0:11. Folks, what do you think?

I definitely hear a similarity between this intro and that of Hotel California!

Also, from approximately 1:20 to 1:30 (and again later in the song), doesn't that sound like a precursor to Easy Street?

Word.

I have to admit both of these are great songs; and I thank Mike for posting them, but I've always thought that the sound quality of these songs were a little poor in my opinion (even for your average demo; but I've heard much better and worse). I assume the quality of these is mostly due to the songs being dubbed (on cassettes) many times over the years. Last year I did a quick cleanup to these files to try to write the lyrics out for the site. Since these files were posted I felt I should go back and clean them up a little more than I originally had. Maybe I could make some more out of the lyrics and that they'd sound better to you and possibly enjoy them more; I dunno.

Another note I want to point out is that I've had 2 different versions of Forever and a Day (the one Mike posted and a slower one)... at least they were different versions/takes until I was editing them a little more carefully. Comparing the two I think they are the same version. The one posted is a little sped up; I don't think they're different takes (the waveform is almost exactly the same when the fast one is slowed to the other).

The one Mike posted (which seemed to be the most common version circulated even before posted) seems to have an FFT applied to it keeping the pitch the same so Dave's vocals don't sound like The Chipmunks. Upon another listen it doesn't sound like his usual voice (especially Dan's) in certain spots (at least to me) maybe because of this possibly being added to the file; making the slower one almost 10 seconds longer.

The slower clip had a lot (albeit fewer) errors; but less (skipping issues, pops/clicks, channel issues) then the other one to make me think the slower one is the original one. I could be totally wrong about this but its just my opinion. Whichever version it is, its a great outtake.

I've cleaned up all 3 files to the best of my ability without making them have a super loss of quality. The first one may sound a lot more altered from removing a lot of the heavy bass and treble (which some may prefer), but the normalizing the volume had some effect on it.

Anyways I've put them all up on the audio page; let me know which version of Forever and a Day sounds like the original (or if you think they're 2 different takes); or if they sound any clearer.

Okay, enough rambling and making myself sound like a :ugeek:...

Visit the audio page to download the files.

Upon request I've added 2 miscellaneous files to the audio page and added my AL TV clip in case that ends up being removed from YouTube as well.

Thanks for porting the songs, Jim and Mike. I promise to help out with the lyrics if all my work are finished!

I think the 2nd Forever And A Day is a bit better. I can't distinguish which one is original though, but it sounds cleaner and more comprehensible.

I tried to download version 2 and the SA riff (using firefox at the time) but neither downloaded completely...and then wouldn't play. either. I'd hoped to be able to help out with the lyrics...but...no luck.

In trying again (and this time I opened the audio page on IE) the riff downloaded fine. So did version 2. I guess IE isn't as useless as thought. :P

I can't tell what the original is either, but I can hear the lyrics a little better now. Thanks for posting it Jim. :P

Okay, so what songs are in the SA riff file?

I've identified them as:
Runaway Train
Misery
See You Later
New York Blackout
Directions
one that I recognize but can't quite put my finger on and it's driving me NUTS!
Grounded
Black Gold
Directions again?

So, about Forever and a Day...
I think version 2 is the original. The first one sounds to me like it's alot higher pitched than it should be.

Thanks for posting the songs Mike! Once I get them downloaded, I'll be able to check them out!

Curious why you use rapidshare though? What's wrong with sites like yousendit, or sendspace, where's there's no waiting 30 seconds for each file, and you dont' have the above limit issue that I've quoted above?

Not complaining mind you, just never understood the benefits of rapidshare over other sites that basically do the same thing
