Hi oxygen. Good job on Shut Down, a tricky one. Think you're right about the mystery chords...

F#(B or F?) - pretty sure it's an F# all the way

Also have nearly the same as you for the bridge and solo:

A_____________________E
Oh no, don't know what's the matter
G________________________F
Stuck up on a ladder, scared of coming down
A_______________D (hammering on Dsus4)
If I don't get what I want

Solo:
G F# D F# x2
G F# D B
hit G x4

Here's your Freak Accident :)

Freak Accident

Intro (same as verse):
E B
E A
E B A

Verse:
E_________________B
How long have you been on hold
E_________________A
Makes you want somebody to hold
E_____________________B__________A
Right outside your window I was dancing

E_________________B
I wore that wig I wore that dress
E_____________________A
Guess I thought you'd be impressed
E_____________________B________________A
You just rolled your eyes and shut the shade

A_____________________E
It wouldn't be the first time
B______________E
It won't be the last
A_________________E_________________B
Well I know you love me enough to tell me when I'm acting like an ass

Chorus:
B_____________________A_______E
We'll just call it a freak accident
B_______E
All my money's spent
A_______E__________B___E
Can't help myself, daydreamin'
A_______E
Freak accident
B_______E
Lack of common sense
A___________E_______B_______E
We'll just call it a freak accident

E_________________B
Screwed up a few things in my life
E_____________________A
Maybe even screwed them up twice
E______________B______________A
Every now and then somebody's countin'
E______________B
Then again I'm still alive
E______________A
Somehow managed to survive
E______________B__________A
That ain't nothing worth announcing

A______________E_______B______________E
My little stumbles started out as a child
A_____________________E
I've got a little steam to blow off
B
So please excuse me if I seem too wild

We'll just call it a freak accident
All my money's spent
Can't help myself, daydreamin'
Freak accident
Lack of common sense
We'll just call it a freak accident

Solo:
F# B
F# A

Even when I'm feeling down
Look in the mirror and see a clown
When I look away I'm always happy
I know you're a misfit too
That's my favorite part of you
Even at the fair you can get lucky

And this time I know I'm right
Though I've known all along
Gotta admit its pretty far, few, and in between
To worry about if something should go wrong

We'll just call it a freak accident
All my money's spent
Can't help myself, daydreamin'
Freak accident
Lack of common sense
We'll just call it a freak accident

Outro:
A E B E x4

Great thanks Tonem for the chords for Freak Accident. THEY ARE PERFECT !!! I have been playing this song all this weekend !!!

Triumph has asked for a help with Never Felt Before. I must say that I have got problems with the song. It is always easier for me to have a video of the song to complete the chords. But I think that together with people who are involved in this thread we will be able to do this.

A couple years ago when I was starting my work on SA chords somebody’s helped me to get some very interesting SA concerts. That was Jesse Hamm and his non-profit dvdoproject. MANY THANKS TO HIM !!! Here is the link for his great website: http://www.thedvdproject.net/
I truly recommend this website for every Soul Asylum Fan !!! Check it !!!!

Here's my take on Never Felt Before. The SA demo is a little different to the Golden Smog recording, so I've put the alternate Smog riffs near the end in brackets. Hope it's easy enough to follow...

Never Felt Before

Intro:
Gm Dm Cm Gm

Verse:
Gm________________Dm
Is it on or in the air tonight
Cm ______________________Gm
Or is it just a station on the way
Gm__________________________Dm
You find your body on a timeless flight
Cm _______________________________Gm
It won't come down again til' All Souls Day

Pre-Chorus:
Cm
Spend your days, your time's unfazed
Gm
Passed out on the floor
Cm___________________________________Dm______________________Gm
Wonderin' why you're trying to reclaim something you ain't never felt before

Chorus:
Gm_________Dm
Never had before
Dm ___________Cm
Never known before
Cm___________F
Never felt before

I know a star that shines but not so bright
It's nights like these they fall out of the sky
She loves it all, just not herself last night
She sleeps but never dreams and wonders why

The tides roll out, the sirens shout
Washed up on the shore
The lost remains reclaim the names of someone like you'd never felt before

Never had before
Never known before
Never felt before

F *(Dm Cm Gm)

Cm_____________________Dm
The best made plans like grains of sand
Gm
Tumble through the hourglass
Cm_____________________Dm______________Gm *(Dm Cm Gm)
And all those things you come to hate are gone
Cm_____________________Dm
Hope won't bring her 'round again
Gm
You'll miss her like a long lost friend
Cm_____________________Dm_____________________F
And all those things you've come to hate are gone

Gm *(Gm Cm Dm)

Cm__________________________________Dm__________________________Gm
All those things you've come to hate are something like you've never felt before

Gm Dm Cm Gm

Gm_____________________Dm
Doctor, look into a photograph
Cm_________________________________Gm
You remind me of my past, where did you go

Gm Dm Cm Gm

Great job Tonem with Never felt before. I have just started work with Dave Pirner song “Teach me to breathe” from “Faces and the Names” album . Here is the link to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSwrIQlZ_ho
I have put only a few chords. I am not sure about them . I will be grateful for any help to complete this songs.

Teach me to breathe

Intro: ?

Sandman blow a little sand in my eyes
Knock me out twice, make me wise
I have never slept a day in my life
I could not cry myself to sleep

B(?)____________________A(?)_____________B(?)__________________A(?)
Spending the day getting ready to go out wondering which mask to wear
B(?)_____________________A(?)________C(?)_____________G(?)
Twisting the crank on the oxygen tank whisper a prayer for the air

Chorus:
D__________________Am__ C________________G_____(hope the chorus is ok)
Please teach me to breathe, remind me how I can't remember
D________________Am_______C____________G
Please read me the theme You've lost the plot the story's dismembered

Milkman give a little sweet stuff to me
I miss me ma
I miss her kiss
I could never let her know that I'm here, sweetheart like me in a dump like this

Looking for ways just to rationalize madness
What was I so mad about
All of these things that I've always avoided constantly keep coming out

So Please teach me to breathe, remind me how I can't remember
Please read me the theme
You've lost the plot the story's dismembered

Now I'd kindly like to go for the walk
Talk with myself and work it out
If I'd only remember to breathe I'd understand what you see

Bridge: ????

So Please teach me to breathe, remind me how I can't remember
Please read me the theme
You've lost the plot the story's dismembered (2 X)

Thanks oxygen. Your chords started me off, but for once I ended up with some quite different...

Teach me to breathe

Intro: A

A_____________________G
Sandman blow a little sand in my eyes
D_____________________A
Knock me out twice, make me wise
A_____________________G
I have never slept a day in my life
D_________________A
I could not cry myself to sleep

Bm____________________A_____________Bm__________________A
Spending the day getting ready to go out wondering which mask to wear
Bm_____________________A_______________G_______________________D
Twisting the crank on the oxygen tank whisper a prayer for the air

Chorus:
A_____________________Em_______G______________D
Please teach me to breathe, remind me how I can't remember
A_____________________Em_______G______________D
Please read me the theme, You've lost the plot the story's dismembered

Milkman give a little sweet stuff to me
I miss me ma, I miss her kiss
I could never let her know that I'm here,
sweetheart like me in a dump like this

Looking for ways just to rationalize madness, What was I so mad about
All of these things that I've always avoided constantly keep coming out

So Please teach me to breathe, remind me how I can't remember
Please read me the theme, You've lost the plot the story's dismembered

Break: A

Now I'd kindly like to go for the walk
Talk with myself and work it out
If I'd only remember to breathe
I'd understand what you see

Bridge: (Dave plays this bit with barre chords around the 7th fret):

Bm Em D
Bm C D

So Please teach me to breathe, remind me how I can't remember
Please read me the theme, You've lost the plot the story's dismembered (2 X)

End on A

Not 100% about the verse as there's not a lot of chords on show, any corrections always welcome...

The Great Exaggerator

Intro: D

Verse:
C______________D
Can we not talk about this?
C______________D
I don't wanna talk about that
C_______D
So maybe put on some records
_______D
And kick back

Chorus:
C____________________________D
'Cause I'll blow it way out of proportion
_______G______________Em
Make it loud beyond distortion
______________C_______D______________G
Don't ask me now and please don't ask me later
C______________D_______G_______Em
'Cause I am the great exaggerator
______________C______________D_______G
Please don't argue with the great exaggerator

We're so misunderstood
Every little thing's taboo
Sometimes I'm so hard
To talk to

'Cause I'll blow it way out of proportion
Make it loud beyond distortion
My mind is bubbling like a percolator
'Cause I am the great exaggerator
Please don't disagree with the great exaggerator

Solo: D

D______________A
So can we not talk about this?
D______________A
I don't wanna talk about that
D_______A
Maybe turn on the TV
_______E
And kick back

'Cause I am the great exaggerator
Don't ask me now and please don't ask me later
'Cause I'll blow it way out of proportion
I'll make it loud beyond distortion
Please don't argue with the great exaggerator

______________C______________D_______G
Please don't argue with the great exaggerator

Hi Tonem !

The chorus of The Great Exaggerator is perfect. I am testing Your version of the verse based on CDCDCDD chords. Sounds ok. But I have got question about that part below and the changes of the chords. Why have the chords changed from CDCDCDD into DADADAE (below). Maybe they could stay the same ?

D______________A
So can we not talk about this?
D______________A
I don't wanna talk about that
D_______A
Maybe turn on the TV
_______E
And kick back

And here is my version of “Faces & the names” from Dave’s solo album + link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPX8ZqKFshs . Suggestions, improvements are welcome.

Faces and the names

Intro: C____C

C_____________________________________________C
There was something in the air that day like gunpowder or sulfur
Em_____________________________________G
And soon a wild migration came from upstairs like a storm
C________________________________________C
I was at a costume party and although nobody noticed me
Em____________________________________________G
I mingled there stark naked All my emperor's clothes were torn
Am________________________G
And suddenly the sprinkler system ran the makeup down her dress
_____________C_______________________________C
And I must confess I had forgotten whom I went to meet there
Am________________________
Something was not right right there
G__________________________________________C
And there I saw you five years later like someone I'd never seen before
Am_____________________________________G
And my life flashed before me and exploded into flames
C____________________________________________C
Now I just sit back and laugh cause the only thing that's changed
_____________________________________C______________C
Are the faces and the names

So I thought I'd say hello but that building it was burning
And you turned and ran away just like the vision I remember
Right then I got run over by a local politician
Who had said that segregation would be good for education
So there I was stark naked with a racist politician in about three feet of water in a building that was burning
We looked to find an exit then he said he owned the building
I was breathing in the suffocation blowing out the air

And my life flashed before me and exploded into flames
Now I just sit back and laugh cause the only thing that's changed
Are the faces and the names

And had knocked myself unconscious at the time I felt like drowning
When I came to I was rolling through emergency room doors
They left me in the waiting room with work related head-wound victims
Wondering what happened and still bleeding on the floor
And sitting there my grade-school teacher stared at me
and said what happened son you could have been someone you could have been so much more
And I thought about that party and my fine fair-weathered friends
And that burning building and those folks I'd never see again

And my life flashed before me and exploded into flames
Now I just sit back and laugh cause the only thing that's changed
Are the faces and the names
