And with The Honeydogs opening for them!

So I tried the link for tickets, but it wasn't working. So I called Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School and talked to someone named John who apparently is in charge of the block party. He said the link for tickets should be available by tonight, if not, Monday at the latest. But here is my personal dilemma, I was told in no uncertain terms, that nobody under 18 is allowed in. I told John that I would very much like to bring my 6-year-old son, and he told me that since there will be alcohol served that it wasn't the best environment for a child. Even though this is an outdoor event. And my child has been to see Soul Asylum and The Honeydogs at numerous outdoor alcohol-serving events in the past. And why is it OK for an 18 year old to go to this event even though they are far more likely to try and scam some beers than my 6 year old? And don't even get me started on kids that go to Catholic school!

Anyway, sorry for the outburst. I needed to vent. If there any parents out there who are with me, please feel free to call "John" at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School to protest! He can be reached at 952-472-1284 ext. 161. I'm sure he will be beyond thrilled to hear from you!

Hey - I go to a Catholic school! :P

Haha, don't worry, I'm not looking for a fight, I was just teasing you...

Anyway, I'm so glad that SA is filling up their days with shows. Yay for everyone! And, as Tracy suggested, it might be helpful if the young-ones can come join the fun too (I'm sure John or whoever else would consider).

Hope you all enjoy SA's shows! ;)

hey PB, thanks for posting the info about the age limit deal. I had seen that as well on their web site (18+), which rules this one out for a show I can't take my 9 yr old son to. Ima gonna call that their John person and give him a piece of my mind !! :x

Any idea if the MN Zoo has age limits etc like this for their shows??

I just received an email from Benny stating that this performance will be a private show, therefore should "technically" not be advertised.

Sorry to those who were making arrangements and planning on going, but just wanted to let everyone know beforehand instead of finding out at the last minute.

(Strange, I would think the web page it was on would have at least said it was a private show; if not why even post it at all?) :?

huh, what ?!?

I've never heard of a block party being private.....

Must be a really small block

In the meantime, someone feel free to check over on the 'Dogs site for mentions of this one. If it's private (from the SA fans), it's private for the 'dogs fans as well......

edit:

also, you'd think this "John" person would have known this to be a private gig and would relay that type of info to people who are calling in about this event with questions ?!?

Are you sure Benny wasn't talking about a different show Monolith???

Nope, he said the May 2nd; though I just talked to John on the phone and told me it was public, just run by the church; so I dunno what's up???... I'll contact Benny again in case he was mistaken (though its not listed on their MySpace as a scheduled performance). Like you and I stated, I don't think they'd advertise it as much as it was if it were private.

As of right now though I'm just gonna go with Benny's word (maybe some plans have been changed and John wasn't notified yet, but I find that hard to believe). Image

Also, no mention of it on The Honeydogs website.

So is this frustrating or what???

Todd - We took Riley to see The Honeydogs at the MN zoo last summer (no, maybe 2 summers ago when we first moved here) and there was no age restrictions. Just FYI - zoo members get 1st crack at tickets, so join up if you aren't already!

The age restriction thing is ridiculous. I thought a friend of mine could bring his 11 year old - He's seen SA multiple times at Lumberjack days and taste of MN. I stupidly assumed that anything sponsored by a Church would be family friendly.

Now I'm hoping they sing fearless leader!
