I'm just copying what I received from Wes (thought the above says basically the same):

The LP Tour is headed to Minneapolis on July 26! Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins! The lineup for this show includes Soul Asylum, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Matthew Sweet and special guests Gear Daddies. Tickets go on sale Thursday, May 30 at 10am and will be available at http://mlb.com/min/ticketing/concert.jsp or by calling 612-33-TWINS (612-338-9467) or 800-33-TWINS (800-338-9467).

I got my tickets yesterday and was both horrified and pleased to see how crummy my seats are. Bummed I won't be able to see the guys up close, but hey, it's only one show. I'll live. I'm happy for SA though that it must be selling so well and I hope the guys get a lot of exposure to new fans out of this tour.

I got tickets as well, tried to get some in that closest to the stage section (the most expensive seats) but those were sold out. So I went one section back. Row 21 or something is what they gave me in that section. There are still 2 more sections of cheaper seats behind me. How many tickets do you think they'll sell? 5000, 10,000, or ??? Just guessing but I think this will draw somewhere in the area of 5k ppl

I question how the tickets were allotted. I got through very shortly after 10:00 and was told that all tickets in the most expensive zone were already gone. I'm back a section and, frankly, the seats are not good. I'm sure the show will be great, but I am disappointed with the seating and wonder how the best seats got taken so quickly.

The truth is, those tickets probably aren't all sold; at least not yet. A couple months ago when I bought Goo Goo Dolls tickets, I learned allll about the wonderful world of ticketing politics. I got access to the fanclub presale for the upcoming show in Pittsburgh, and I went on at 10 a.m. sharp, but nothing in the pit or first tier was available. (Some presale, eh? Totally worth a $30 club membership...) Turns out, those tickets just weren't available at the time. There's alot of reasons that they may not have been available, like corporate holds, saving them for radio station giveaways, saving them for the public sale, etc.

I have no idea what the situation with this SA show is, but more than likely, there's a reason you couldn't get the better seats. Probably an aggravating, unfair reason, but a reason nonetheless.

my tickets arrived in the mail today. I am definitely not close to the stage by any means. Could be worse though I guess. Can never rule out scalpers too (which are legal in this state) as to where the closer up tickets went

Alyssa is totally right about this. Tickets are not sold best to worst the way you'd think they would be. Instead the tickets are released in groups that have some at every level at different times. Some are also sent to other places to be sold, bought to be sold for higher prices, used for promotions, etc. Strange as it might sound, it seems the best time to get really good seats is in the week leading up to the show or the day of the show. I've gotten great tickets for really big name shows the day of the show for face value or less through the venue/ticket master or through third party sellers who had them previously marked up many times face value but didn't sell them. I have never waited to buy tickets to a show and not been able to get at least decent seats close to or on the day of the show. Of course the only Soul Asylum shows I've been to we're GA but I doubt this show us an exception. I've known other people who were successful with waiting and getting awesome seats for a wide variety of concerts.

It seems deceptive to show the seats in the best section on the seating chart and order form, then have some or all withheld from the general public. It would be more honest for the seats that are not available to be designated as not available - then we could decide when and where to get our tickets. Oh well, I'll stop complaining and just get ready to enjoy the show.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. Sat there on the computer waiting for the very second the tickets went on sale, and still couldn't get 3 together in the best seats. Ended up in section 123. Bleh. But still, don't know when else I would see them in town this summer. Should be fun either way. And I'm happy to see Matthew Sweet as well.
