10 Years ago today.

If I have my dates right, 10 years ago today I saw Soul Asylum at the Roxy in Hollywood, CA. At the time, I had just moved to California from Minnesota 3 months prior, and on a whim, entered some online contest to see the band. To my great astonishment, the day before the show, I checked my phone messages and heard from a woman at Sony saying that I had won.
It was some kind of "industry" type showcase, with a bunch of other acts, and SA weren't even the headliner, nor were they allowed an encore, that I remember. What I do remember is talking to Dan briefly after they performed. I told him that I just moved to California from from Minnesota recently and that it was great to seem them again. He smiled and said, "Oh, you moved out here just to see us? Nice!"
