I generally get there 60-45 minutes in advance.

One time I was not able to get a seat in the venue because it was too crowded. I watched the show from the outside-the actual stage area is in the middle of the casino.

If you want to catch sound-check I'm not sure what time you have to show up.

i think i've usually gotten in line 1 hour in advance. maybe 2. i did catch sound check once when in line with mysticspiral. no clue the timing anymore.
as long as you get in you can then walk up and stand near the stage so unless you need to sit a lot (been there [pregnant]) it's ok to get a worse seat.
if you dont get 'in' like somebody said you can still see the show from the edges of the show area. (like a low fence type thing. i've ssen gin blossoms that way it was still fun and a good backup method.
i've also seen them change the time (also for gin blossoms not SA) from advertised to earlier which is why i didn't get in (doh).

Realized I only saw one full-length Soul Asylum show this year. Noticed the fall tour dates are looking a little lean at this time. Bought a plane ticket for CT. I'm in! : )

prices at the casino are thru the roof! I booked a place not far for about a third the $$. I wanted to try to hit the Mississippi show next month but their hotel prices are jacked up too. I'll settle for New Orleans, that'll be my sixth show this year! I'm lucky, I spoil myself.

Are we talking about some kind of fan brunch at the casino? How early?

Show starts at 8; so I would shoot for 5-ish for food which should give plenty of time to eat and get in line w/ time to spare.

Although, it isn't brunch that late.
