Thanks for the info. Kinda wishing I made the trip! Very interesting setlist. The Game? Wow. All is Well, don't think I've heard that one in a while. Shut Down I've never heard live, same for Something out of Nothing. Just, wow! Bittersweet heart, hm, I guess the "Danny" songs are back in play again.

What did you all think of the new tunes?

Well, didn't Dave write "Bittersweetheart?" I thought he did, and that Dan just sang part of it. Maybe that's why it's back.

That's an interesting list. I don't think I've heard "Shut Down" live.

Yes, I see that Dave wrote it but it was one of those tunes that I think disappeared for the last couple years. I guess I associated it with Dan as he had a bit part in the lead vocals, in that bridge.

I sorta made it in to last nights show inadvertently. I got off earlier than expected and received a nice Christmas bonus so I thought I would try my luck. I parked nd quickly found someone selling tickets. $5 over face value so not bad for a sold out show. One guy was charging $20 over face per ticket. I settled in up front on the corner near Justin. Though it sounded good. Lot of songs mixed into the list. CFAS got it's time and a lot of deeper cuts. No Runaway Train which was kind of nice. I thought "I did my best" sounded great. Dave was a little on edge for a good part of the set because a fan up front was recording or something and he reached down to do something to her phone, she got verbal and Dave got a little verbal. It was a tense exchange to watch as the fan was a Butch lesbian with a wicked angry stare and she was right up in front of Dave. So she was shocked and upset and standing in front of him trying to perform as if this drama wasn't going on. Some staff members came up front and eventually her and her GF left. I honestly get Dave being annoyed, I am more and more annoyed by cell phones at concerts(although I love watching the youtube footage) and can't imagine how distracting it has to be for a performer, but with that said, i feel bad for the girl really. She was obviously a fan, her and her GF were right up front, they were having a good time. She claimed she was recording it for someone who has cancer and couldn't come. the look on her face after Dave scolded her was horrifying. She looked like she lost a hero and Dave lost a fan. Never good to see. Other than that, I really enjoyed the show. Great selection of songs. Justin really nails the lead parts. All together the band seemed really rehearsed and tight. Thinking 2015 will a busy year for SA with the new album release. The new song Supersonic is really good. Wanted to hear Nice Guys Don't Get Paid and Morgan's Dog(Can someone describe this one from Weds night?) both were on the setlist, but it seemed like Dave was drained from the front stage drama. Encore was April Fool.

I found myself both digging the new lineup and missing Karl and Danny a lot. There is a Soul Asylum that is no longer available to be seen and that saddens me. This new album will be without any Dan influence at all. I'll probably still like it, and it will probably still be in the vein of SA, but it won't be a new Dan and Dave collaboration. Micheal Bland, Justin, and Winston are definitely some talented musicians and great guys, happy to have them fill out the roster and eager to hear what the new album's sound will be with their input, but I wonder how much different the SA sound will be without Dan's guitar stylings and co-songwriting.
Would you look into my eyes if I were to go blind?

Thanks for the review Mark!

My .02 on night #2

Yes Dave was annoyed by people up front/dead center who were occupied with their "devices" the entire time, but night #2 seemed more of a Saturday night crowd to me - way more ppl there, more talkers, more ppl on their phones etc. The music was a bit louder I thought than the first night. But Dave was in more of a Rock-n-Roll mood for night # 2. Complete with lots of head banging/hair swinging around. To me, that's the stuff I like.

That's about it for me, short and sweet. But on to the set list !!!

Soul Asylum

Songs played the second night but not the first:
