I'm still in shock that they played Black Star and Stranger! What an amazing night! :D

Jamie - Great to see you and Sara again and meet your kiddos! Riley rocked out pretty hard and slept the whole way home. Have fun tonight!

Barely made it in time for the 757's early afternoon set at Taste of MN today. Anybody else here go?

Sounds like it was an amazing show. Thanks for the reports, everyone.

Stranger, Black Star, String of Pearls, and Slowly Rising? I'm so jealous I can hardly see straight.

Sometime to Return wrote: Anyway; set list (not in order)...People; look at this set list!!!

STRANGER (last time played 2000 at the Fine Line)
SOMETIME TO RETURN (last time played Aug 2007)
BLACK STAR (last time played 1999)
One small correction here. "Sometime to Return" was played at least as recently as the Kansas City Ribfest show on June 21, 2008. I was pretty sure I remembered hearing it at that show, so I checked my notes and then checked the Pitch review just to be sure. The Pitch included "Sometime to Return" in their reported set list, too. :geek:

Another correction - Dave (Pirner and the Volunteers, not actually Soul Asylum) sang Black Star at the Cabooze show in Dec 2007!

Also in there somewhere (setlist wise) was a joke by Eli. Something along the lines of:

Q; why don't Tigers and Lions eat clouds?
A: because they taste funny

The joke was actually.....Why don't Tigers and Lions eat CLOWNS not clouds?

It was not the typical Soul Asylum show as they didn't do any cover tunes like they normally do. Although Dave did do a tiny bit of "Silly Love Songs" which was kind of cool. Great show like ALWAYS!!!!

It seems was a wonderful show, I checked the videos (why is there no video of "All Is Well" from this gig?) and all I can say is: I wish was there, what a beautiful venue, what an amazing band.
Later guys. Happy for everyone who was there.
