Sorry it took so long to get this up. Life has been pretty busy. (I'm actually surprised no one beat me to the punch.)

God Damn, what a good show. The night was a little chilly for California, but not for people from the midwest. Dave came out wearing a jacket, and before they could even start the first song, Michael started yelling at Dave, "What are you wearing a coat for? You're from Minnesota!!" and refused to start until Dave took it off, which he did with a smile. Michael was sporting a nicely gelled mohawk and everyone looked in good spirits.

From song one, the energy was there. No warming up…just dead on. I love that so much about this band. I was especially impressed since they spent the previous night playing in Canada and were no doubt weary from traveling.

Here's the setlist for the night:

Which was almost completely abandoned after "Black Gold". They instead played "My Generation" with Tommy doing a great job on vocals, as well as stuff I didn't recognize. The last song on the setlist, "Final Solution", they did do, which I thought might be a new song, but it's actually a cover by a band called Pere Ubu. Here's their version of the song:

It was a GREAT cover, and it'd be a treat at future shows. They also went into "Gone till November" after Cartoon.

It was an incredible show. Tons of energy, smiles all around, lots of joking around between the band…what more do you need? It's been a while since they played California, and it was great to se them again. Especially since I'm not going to be able to make the First Ave. show this year since it got moved up

Here's some shitty cell phone pics of the show from the front:

I saw some familiar faces in the crowd and met some new fans, so if you'll forgive the personal messages:

Marta and Jessie: Great to see you as always! I can't thank you enough for letting me tag along.

Dave4Prez: So glad you made it out to the show! Nice meeting you and your family.

Jon (or John): The picture of the setlist I promised is right up top. Nice meeting you!

Kim: I'm amazed at how you kept everything rolling so smoothly. Thanks as well for letting me tag along that night. It was fantastic.

George: Nice talking with you about old 80's video games. Any time you want to talk audio or audio-post, feel free to contact me. Here's a trailer for that movie I was telling you about that you MUST see:

And to the band: Please keep on doing what you do. We're all the better for it.

P.S. And how could I forget..."Rhinestone Cowboy" to finish the night!!
