Here's another one :)

Soul Asylum
10/26/92
Chicago, IL
Metro

Source: 2nd gen cass
Lineage: cass>cdr>wav>flac
Transfer: Asylum11

File Size: 311 mb

Here's an odd and rare show.

Soul Asylum played the night before 10/25/92 as the headliner at The Metro.
The next night they opened for Poi Dog Podering under the name Jagermeister.
At the start of the show Dave is changing the song titles for fun ..."this is a song about shopping....Something To Return..."
And they take some requests.

As luck would have it a friend of mine was there to tape Poi Dog Pondering and was also a Soul Asylum fan.
It was recorded in stereo but is balanced more to the left for some reason.

1.Intro
2.Keep It Up
3.Sometime To Return
4.Veil Of Tears
5.Something Out Of Nothing
6.Nice Guys Don't Get Paid
7.My Chevy Van
8.Tracks Of My Tears
9.April Fool
10.Black Gold
11.Without A Trace
12.Runaway Train

10.April Fool

13.Gullible's Travels
14.Closer To The Stars
15.Something Out Of Nothing

As I remember this it was a VERY loud show.
Slight amount of distortion in recording.
I did put up a MP3 sample so you can check out a few seconds.

Uncirculated until now.
Enjoy :)

The Tape : BOUGHT from collector/taper around 1993 was told is WAS the MASTER. Bad thing was it was at the wrong speed and sounded muddy.
Speed adjusted RE-EQ’ED, volume boosted, tranfered to cassette and to CD-R. It was tranfered in 1995.
The show was something I thought needed the time to fix up years ago and very glad I did.
I have never seen this show on anyone’s list and thought this would be a great piece of music history for everyone to hear.

The Show:
This show is about a year before Grave Dancers Union hit the stores and Soul Asylum would play a few shows a mouth in the Midwest area.
Living in Chicago I have been able to see some of most amazing Soul Asylum shows, most of them at The Metro.
This show is ONE OF THE BEST SOUL ASYLUM SHOWS EVER. Really !!!

The show started at 9PM with the opening band. Some band out of Seattle called Pearl Jam… Yes and it was before “Ten” was even released.
As they played the place filled up really fast.. The next band The Jayhawks .
If you saw Soul Asylum in the early 90’s chances are you saw the Jayhawks. They played a lot shows together..
By the time Soul Asylum hit the stage after midnight the Metro was as filled (around 1500 is capacity) as I have ever seen it, still to this day.
They oversold it by about 250 tickets I would find out latter.
It was HOT over 100….everyone was drunk ….what follows is AMAZING.

The band and the crowd become one. Listen to “ All The Kings Friends” – “There was a time and there was a place” WOW !!
Listen to the place explode before, during and after “Sometime To Return “ and “ Cartoon” Really a great time .
Everyone singing the songs they knew, check out “Easy Street”. And yes “ Rhinestone Cowboy” is the song you think it is.

After this show you knew you saw something really special. All this for the low price of $7

THANK YOU SOUL ASYLUM and THE METRO.

If you where there you understand what I’m talking about.

Enjoy this historic show.

A few months ago I was able to obtain 15 vintage shows ('85- '88 era) from the great Raquel F.

Among the shows was a GREAT GEM which I have decided to call
" Home For The Holidays - Part One"
Recorded at First Avenue in Minneapolis on December 24 1988

This GREAT soundboard recording was something I had to share .
Lots of fun covers and a great show by the band.

If you've seen the " Something Out Of Nothing " film when Soul Asylum plays a Herb Albert song "Tonight My Love" with Dave on trumpet, and the trumpet come down, this is that show.

" Home For The Holidays - Part Two" will be on the site soon.
That is the December 31 1991 - Minneapolis Hyatt show .

I also have added the audio from the May 15 2009 Azkena Rock Festival.
This audio is from the video I have posted but thought it would be nice to just have the audio.

Enjoy :D

It's been a great year for the band, enterthesoulasylum.com and my Soul Asylum collection.

Being it is the holiday season .....here are some new gifts for you the Soul Asylum fans.

I have added the second show from the collection I call " Home For The Holidays"

Soul Asylum - 12-31-91 Hyatt Regencey Hotel

This show has a lot of special memories for me !
Seeing the band play at a hotel in the Exibition Hall was somthing I can never really explain .
One of the best New Years Eve's I've ever had.
If your at home on New Years Eve make a disc of the show, start playing the show at around 11:10 PM
(+35seconds)your local time.
It should time out right and you can enjoy your own New Years Eve show with Soul Asylum.

Also added
September 15 1995 Aragon Ballroom - Chicago, IL
This is a great Radio Broadcast and another great show I was able to attend.

And for those who could not make the December 4 2009 show at First Ave that has also been added.

http://s2.webstarts.com/LittleTooClean/downloads.html

And don't forget about the Soul Asylum Video Vault.
http://youtube.com/littletooclean

More stuff will be added to both sites in 2010 !

Holiday Bonus...... :) "Something Out Of Nothing" Unreleased Film
http://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/wc4u6n
This will be up for a limited time
ONLY share with friends and fans. Please DO NOT put this up on YouTube.
I have already put some clips up .

Happy Holidays
Mike W
