I knew some folks who made the road trip to MN for that NYE show. That was before I started travelling, and I wish I could go back in time and go to that show too. Certainly a landmark show in the band's history.

This video was made by Nikki Puccini and here is her story.
I made this and it's my big creative achievement for the summer. Maybe for the year. I really hope everyone gives it a watch and enjoys it for what it is (a bit of a love letter really, at it's core). Regardless of who your favorite artists may be, I think it really captures the love fans have for their favorite music, the experience of going to shows and the community that develops among fans. That's the short version anyway. The long version is that back in April (APRIL!!!) Mike Wilson suggested fans in the Soul Asylum and Dave Pirner Fans group make a video for a song off of the new album. I thought that sounded fun and started thinking about making one. Then I got an idea....it seemed like a simple idea at the time. What if I could collect photographs featuring fans favorite fan experiences. So I ran the idea by Sara Miscavage and we started gathering photos. I started looking at other music videos featuring fan submitted photos and trying to figure out how to put this all together in something that was more than just a slideshow. I found an app I could use on my phone called Flipagram and started the project in that. Jeffrey Puccini shook his head and suggested I use our normal video editing software instead. I stubbornly stuck it out with Flipagram. And Flipagram screwed me over. First after I got 400 or so photos into it, it became very glitchy and would freeze or crash. I pushed on and when the video was nearly complete....It suddenly could not locate some random 75 or so photos which threw off the timing of the whole thing. I got those back in and then it changed the speed of the photos. Jeff helped me recreate the project in Sony Vegas, which was no small feat. Then It became obvious that some of the photos had been saved very, very small instead of their full size. It took two full days of both of us doing nothing but sifting through thousands and thousands of photos to find the ones we were looking for and save them at the proper size to fix that issue. After that, it was a matter of getting the timing right and getting everything just so. It was finally finished at the very end of July and is now ready to be unleashed into the world. I feel in love with Soul Asylum when I was 11 years old and they have been with me ever since. As a visual artist, this was not the first time Soul Asylum has sparked a creative project for me...but it certainly is the biggest such project and it was made with the most love. Thanks so much to everyone who participated!

This is a great animation video made by Sara M. and here is her story.
About a month ago, I decided that I wanted to illustrate the story of String of Pearls. It started out as a comic, then it turned into a motion comic. Then the software I bought to make a motion comic didn't work right, so I had to build it in flash. In the end, this video is what ended up coming out. This is for you guys, I hope you all enjoy it. Thanks for looking!

Updates are still being made daily but I think this is working out well. MANY more shows to add to get everything up to current year.

Hey everyone I would like to pass on some very exciting news!! As many of you know I am a big SA fan/collector and I still find it very hard to find out the early history of the band. Mainly the Loud Fast Rules era. So I had an idea and it's going to be my biggest project to date. The Karl Project to be exact. I wanted to tell the early history of Karl and the band which includes LFR. My plan is to make a documentary about Karl and LFR. I hope to talk to musicians, fans, friends, co-workers and as many people I can about Karl and LFR. If anyone has photos of Karl or a great story please send it to me. I'm looking for video interviews so if you have something to say please take a few minutes and shoot it. I have talked to Mary Beth Mueller and she has approved the idea!!!
