Trapper Schoepp and the Shades

Post by Yaz McBoo »

Caught these guys opening for the Old 97s last night. I thought they they had a Soul Asylum-esque energy and a great sound. Was perusing their website this morning and it turns out they opened for SA last year on the west coast. Must have been some awesome shows.

They also opened up for SA at the Majestic Theater in Madison back in February and thought they were good as well. Benny who used to be SA's tour manager is theirs.

It would be cool if all three bands did play together AND they did another version of We Are the World. :D

Hey Soul Asylum diehards,

Hope all of you are doing swell and have been in the 4 or so years since I've been a constant with SA. I gotta say that it makes me feel really good to see a Google Alert pop up from ETSA and to see that SA fans are showing some love for The Shades - who I think are the best young rock band on the planet. I've tried to get the bands together on stage as much as possible because I know SA fans are MUSIC LOVERS and The Shades play some damn good music.

Big thanks to Yaz for bringing the dudes to everybody's attention.

As a thank you, please let me share with you a few fun links for the band, including a stream of their entire Run Engine Run album, a video for the song "Tracks," and a couple of live YouTube videos from when they were on tour with The Wallflowers last year.

Enjoy peoples! And keep you eyes peeled for when the band is coming to town. If there's room, I'm happy to put ETSA members on the guest list just to get you out to see them!

Cheers,
Benny
