Song versus song
Re: Song versus song
That's a tough one, but I'd have to say the slower version. It sounded strange to me the first time I heard it, but now it seems that it was written to be slower and the original version seems like a punk cover.
I noticed that Twiddly Dee has been used a number of times in this game, so here's one more:
Best song for a square dance: Twiddly Dee or Brand New Shine?

I would have to go with Twiddly Dee of course!! Its such an upbeat song, everytime I hear it I want to get up and do a hoe-down!erocmann wrote:That's a tough one, but I'd have to say the slower version. Re: Song versus song
can't say I'm a huge fan of any of these songs but I'll go with Keep it Up since it's abit more up tempo.
As for Straight Up, a live version was included on the bonus EP that came with Candy From a Stranger. It was recorded at an acoustic show in Toronto. There may also have been a demo of it from the GDU period but don't quote me on that.
Next one:
Best Medicine/Drug related title song:
Painkiller
Summer of Drugs
Bitter Pill
Cocaine Blues

Tough choice, but I love Soul Asylum's version of Summer of Drugs. They just rock on it. Everytime I see it it's just so awesome.

Re: Song versus song
Haven't heard Brand New Shine or New Feelings (at least I don't think) so from the other two, I'll chose New York Blackout.
I'm a louse at asking these type of questions, so here goes.
Best "color" song:
Black and Blue or Black Gold?
I probably could have listed more (like Ramblin' Rose, Blood into Wine, New York Blackout, Cocaine Blues) but they would have been a stretch.

So frustrated. Get up anyway.
So complicated. Changes every day.
So the darkness fades
And the light, will come shining through.

Nice one Phil!
gotta be Can't Even Tell. It's one of the best songs to come out of the Columbia years I think. The Break may be just about the worst.
anyway, here's the next one!
Best song whose title could easily be misunderstood as being of a sexual nature but is not necessarily so:
Cocktails
Goin' Down
Put the Bone In
The Snake
Take it to the Root

Re: Song versus song
Oh! and was Misery a soundtrack song because of its coincidental inclusion in the Tommy Lee/Pamela video?
