OK, if you don't mind, I have another battle of songs ;)

favorite closing song of an album:
Black and Blue
Don't It (Make Your Troubles Seem Small)
Passing Sad Daydream
Put The Bone In
Take It To The Root
All the King's Friends
The Sun Maid
I Did My Best
Cradle Chain
Fearless Leader

you know it pains me to have to choose one. but i don't think you'll mind if i choose 3 right? :)

all the kings frineds was my first instinct.
but then i thought passing sad daydream
But cradle chain i love more than those 2 (at the moment)...

BUT judging purely as a closing song and not just a song on its own, i guess i CAN pick just one:

passing sad daydream.

OK new song vs song: which chain wins?
(thanks to jim&jakob for the lyrics search function!)

Chains
Cradle Chain
New Feelings (Roll away the chains that wrap around me )
Lies of Hate (How to get out of these chains )
Just Plain Evill (You've got nothing to lose but a ball and chain)
Growing Pain (Whirling round you like a razor-edged chain )

i dont' think this one counts but if you disagree just say why :)
I did my best for you (I was waiting for a chain reaction)

Die In Your Arms is not only a lovely sounding song to listen to, but it is also a superb example of Dave's unique, quirky, and brilliant writing style, which makes it hands down the best bodily fluids song IMHO :)

I couldn't resist posting my response to the bodliy fluids songs, but I'm afraid I can't dream up a new song vs. song battle. My bad.

Excellent answer! :D

I say it counts. Dave loves to make puns like that in his lyrics, so why shouldn't you include one in your question?

I'm butting out now.

Thanks :D

For me, the winner here is (for now) The Sun Maid, it perfectly closes the album that begins with such perfect intro of Somebody to shove and moves on to diversity of the songs on GDU. The Sun Maid is just a perfect song for the end of an album, I mean, not just GDU, I could easily imagine it as the closing song of every SA album, it's such a nice, nice song :D

but, I still don't have Clam dip (nor LYDLS) and haven't heard Take it to the root and can't answer my question properly, and for now, I vote for the sun maid

not sure what category that is but i always group those 2 in my mind for some reason (anybody able to explain it for me?)
I’ve never seen this thread before… I find it really cool :D
Answering an old question about “crawl vs. caged rat”:
I also group these songs in my mind …. Maybe cause I imagine that the rat is Crawling in its cage… crawling home… Crawl into the hole… :P

WHAT!!
Neither one??

No collection is complete without these two.
March down to your local record store; make the purchase and report back in. Go on now; march... faster.

I really love “Lies Of Hate” and “Chains”….
But I’ll choose “Just Plain Evil”, cause I think it’s a very “powerful” song… the way the words hit you (questioning you) and how the melody carries you into a strange state is just unique.

Next question:
Favorite song that mentions “losing your mind”
- Artificial Heart (She lost her mind…)
- Spinnin' (If I lost my mind…)

No, neither one
I did march down to all the record stores in the town, and could only find GDU, TSL and Black Gold - the best of (or what's it's name). Yeah. So I bought GDU and TSL. But, in one of the stores the guy working there told me he can order these two for me, but I would of course have to wait for a month or so for it to arrive. And that was on 5 March - 4 months ago!! Of course I went there (not just once) to see if the CDs arrived (they said they would phone me when they do) and still nothing. I don't know what's going on.
I mean, I wouldn't be waiting for the CDs this long if I could find LYDLS on ebay, NEW CD that is. I found used ones (I don't mind those really, I bought used Hang time), but if possible, I'd like to have new ones, and this guy ordered for me new ones. So, it's not that I haven't heard most the songs on these two albums, so I don't mind waiting, as long as I know they will arrive. I know they are very important parts of the SA discography :D
I'm going there next week, and if they still haven't arrived, I'm buying them on ebay
And will come back with an update :D

mad_soul,
sorry for ignoring your post and babbling off-topic

I vote for Spinnin' because I fell in love with that song just because of that line - if I lost my mind...

next question: favorite song with the mention of help
Spinnin' (if I lost my mind, would you help me find it...)
Standing in the doorway (I would if I could help you remember...)
See you later (and how I thank you dearly, for helping me see clearly...)
Runaway Train (can you help me remember how to smile...)
Promises broken (nothing out there is ever gonna help me...)
I did my best (I need something to help me crash...)
