What do you listen to apart from Soul Asylum?

There are many, many bands that I enjoy. but only a handful I listen to all the time. I figured I would stick with those few bands:

The Clarks
Scott Blasey
Aerosmith
The Bedspins

Everyone knows Aerosmith I have been a big fan of their's for about as long as I have been a big SA fan. I have thought at times that it was an odd pairing but I see a few others include them as well. I like all Aerosmith, not just old stuff - they are one the best ever rock n roll bands for sure.

The Clarks are a popular regional band from Pittsburgh. For as much as I have thought SA and Aerosmith were an odd "fave bands" pairing, SA and The Clarks seem like a real good fave bands pairing.

Scott Blasey is the lead singer for The Clarks and also does solo stuff. Scott has been doing monthly solo shows in Bridgeville, PA which I always look forward to. At these shows he does his own songs of course but also covers of his favorite songs which can range from Tracks of My Tears to Priince's Kiss to Rapper's Delight. In addition to those he does some "fun" songs too - like the Jefferson's theme and his own Eat N Park song (its the place for smiles!).

The Bedspins are a local band from Youngstown. You could call them "punkabilly". They are a two piece band, lots of fun, good songs and the singer is VERY animated LOL Lately they have been doing accoustic shows which feature a washboard bass, a banjo and a mandoline. Fun stuff!

After reading everyone elses posts I'm almost embarassed to say that I'm really into country. I know, I know, but that's what most of my friends listen to. Plus, there was nothing on the radio besides rap or those whiny pop princesses. I didn't start listening to country until I was in my early 20's though. SA is the only band that I'm into right now that isn't hickish. Before that I would listen to all kinds of music. . . STP, Metallica, Tom Petty, Meat Puppets, Bin Jovi, Barenaked Ladies, Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers. I have always listened to SA because there is almost no song that I don't like and they have the greatest live shows.

Apart from Soul Asylum, I mostly listen to Nirvana, R.E.M, Beatles, John Lennon & GrimSkunk.

favorite musician = ARLO GUTHRIE
(yes i like him better than SA)
some other 60's stuff like JOAN BAEZ, and CROSBY STILLS & NASH
some 'modern/current' lesbian folk singers like DAR WILLIAMS and CATIE CURTIS (nope i'm not a lesbian but a lot of their fans seem to be based on concert attendance)
and some bluegrassy(?) singers like LUCINDA WILLIAMS, ALISON KRAUSS, and NANCI GRIFFITH

I have enough overlap there. I pretty much listen to * Williams (lucinda, victoria, and dar), don't know arlo, but know some of his fathers work. I don't know any alison krauss, but I do listen to her husband's music (Steve Earle). Also, lately I've been picking up most any albums I find on new west records. Haven't been let down yet.

really Dar? !! awesome she's my favorite of the williams... heard 'christians and pagans' in high school - another winter guard used it for their performance song and i got into her from that. i saw her in northampton in 2000-ish it was a great show although one of my friends that came said "all her songs sound the same" whatever -i'm not friends w/ her anymore anyways. other than the one friend i got into her through me i never knew any others that knew who she is.

ok i'm dumb - i didn't know alison was married to that steve guy (his name sounds familiar - he's the guy on every other song of that album...new favorite right? i saw her in boston also in 2000-ish. have to admit a horrible exboyfriend got me into her - i heard her in the background while we were on the phone once and made him make me a copy.

Apart from Soul Asylum I basically only listen to Fastball and Nirvana. I usually skip over all of the other songs that I like, but I haven't been listening to as much Fastball because my computer won't let me play a select few songs, which includes my favorite Fastball song.
I just did the math and Soul Asylum, Nirvana, and Fastball make up about 47% of the music I have on my computer, but they make up 100% of the songs that I actually listen to.
