Most of what they are going after are videos that contain ANY music and videos released by the label

Any music where ever played is to be tracked and counted so the artist can collect money as well as the label.

That's what ASCAP and BMI are
Or in Europe it's SEC i think.
Companies like these keep track of plays on everything from radio/TV/cable

Here's ASCAP listng for Soul Asylum
http://www.ascap.com/ace/search.cfm?req ... 20&start=1

They (the label) own the right to the songs and or videos no one else.
Yes the artist gets paid and they wrote it but the label has control because what the band does while under contract is owned by the label.

As I mentioned in the chat yesterday, my country's government banned access to esnips.com and YouTube on Sunday with the reason that it 'threatens national security' after a 'certain' audio recording was posted on there. The recording was an army response to the Prime Minister for her handling of the recent bloody mutiny in the capital city of Dhaka.

There's still no decision as to when the ban will be lifted. No access to any more videos for me or anyone else in the country of Bangladesh for that matter until I hear differently. :(
