Winona Ryder in (new) Star Trek movie

Post by no1rockfan »

Winona plays Spock's mom. It's nice to see her maturing in her roles. She's still one of my faves from the 90s. :)

I hate Winona Ryder !!
First i hated her for being Dave's girlfriend, then for leaving him ( she broke his heart ! ). Now it's a habit.

Everyone has their opinion about Winona (Wynona?), but I think talent is talent, and I admire hers. Also, she was a look alike for me when I was younger, so she's like a sister to me. ;)

BTW, last I heard was that her and Dave were still friends.

Just a joke. Forgot to add a smile.
I always forget if it's Wynona Rider or Winona Ryder.

It's whichever the town in Minnesota is named, because she's named after it. I'm just loopy since I've been on Darvocets for weeks! Usually I'm better at spelling.

She was good in the movie, but not many speaking parts, unfortunately. I saw it in IMAX so she was close-up and lovely as usual.

I don't know her so I can't say I like or hate her. As for what choices and decisions she's made with regards to herself or whomever, those were her choices, her decisions she made. Simply put, it's her business, not mine. All I can say is that I've always liked and respected her work.

As for the topic in hand, I haven't seen the (new) Star Trek movie yet. I'll give my opinion on it and on her performance after I see it, whenever in the near or far future that be. :P

So frustrated. Get up anyway.
So complicated. Changes every day.

So the darkness fades
And the light, will come shining through.

let's just put it this way - she got to be with dave AND she got to act in a romantic scene with Kiefer sutherland (in the movie "1969") so unfair! :)

but on the other hand i like half of the movies she's in. esp. little women and mermaids.

but i don't plan to watch star trek. as much of a battlestar gallactica fan (and star wars fan of course) i am ... that does NOT make me want to watch star trek!!!

I've noticed there's kind of a Star Wars vs. Star Trek mentality out there. The original Star Wars trilogy didn't have many strong female characters, so I was a bit turned off of it.

Star Trek came out when I was really young and I watched reruns lots of times. It was the coolest thing ever for me at that time of my life!

Back to Winona...
I liked her best in Beetlejuice and Girl, Interrupted.
