What!?? Soul Asylum coming to my town? what a treat.

I don't check this site often enough. I heard this announced on a local radio station last night and couldn't believe it.

I'll definately be there.

Sad to read about Dan leaving the band, but greatful for all the years of music he gave us - and looking forward to another great show.

Just got back from this show.

Went something like this:

Shove
Misery
Gravity
Lately
Without a Trace
Black Gold
New World
Oxygen
Into the Light
Runaway Train
The Streets
Just like anyone

The new songs sounded much better at this show than last I heard them at Gretna in 2010.

My sister in laws band (rosco bandana) played at the festival also and she took me back stage to meet Dave.

He was in a big hurry but he was nice enough to take a pic. Very cool.
Met young Eli too.

They sounded great. But The new guy doesn't have the intensity of Dan. He played a stratocaster on a bunch of songs. Dan really sang good with Dave. Dan is to be missed.Him and Dave were a rare musical combo that is just hard to replicate.

Dave had his usual energy and stage precence. And while its a let down for Dan to be gone, I'm greatful to see them again - they still put on a heck of a show.

My sister just moved to the Minneapolis area, hoping to go visit her and catch a show at a classic SA venue.

I would like to post my pic but I don't know how on my phone.

Thanks for sharing the pic and a thousand thanks for the set list.

Although it'll never be the same without Dan, it looked like Dave tried to "bridge the gap" so to speak and seems to be getting more "comfortable?" with Justin. And, I thought they sounded great. Definitely better than the two acts that followed them - Soul Asylum should have closed out this show.

Dave seemed to be in good spirits - acknowledging Gumby showing up - one of the large "puppets?" walking around the place - a true scene from the absurd. Saying it was good to be there - "it's good to be anywhere" and dedicating "Just Like Anyone" to two people and Eli, and "The Streets" to "My lovely wife, Karen." Ahhhh, how sweet. :)

Dave Pirner's married? I knew he had a son but had no clue he was married to a woman named Karen.

Am I the only one who didn't know that?

I think karen is the one that came out and introduced them.

The sunherald put some pictures of the show on their site

There's 3 or 4 of Soul asylum.

Are ya'll that were at the show from the coast also? I've never met another fan down here.

The gal who's always dressed in black tights, was that who introduced them? I thought she was their road manager. Didn't know she's Dave's wife too.

Rob, if you're thinking of the girl who introduced them at Wolf Den, I think that is road manager Kim. Karen is a different lady. I've seen her on the side of the stage at a few shows.

Right, I think it was Kim who introduced them. I know she had to stand on her tippy toes to reach Dave's mic.

I didn't know if Dave and Karen were married or not, I know they're been together for a while and have a son. Anyways, that's what he called her...my invitation to the wedding must have gotten lost in the mail.
