Turf Club show - Tues. Jan. 19

Post by kevinmpls »

Not sure that they needed to be so secretive about it, especially for a Tuesday night at the last minute. $15 and tickets on sale at the following link.

Sure it's really them and not some tribute band, or some 90s kids picking up guitars for the first time?

Attached is a tweet sent out by First Ave so they wouldn't do that for a tribute act. I just don't understand why they didn't just announce it normally as they have played the Entry a few times now so it's not like it's that big of a deal for them to play a smaller club. My guess is they will leak it to the local papers to make sure people know about it.

This was posted in the Star Tribune today.

Bulc Frut eht ta gig gib

We hear good things about this mysterious band Luos Mulysa just announced for the Turf Club on Tuesday (8 p.m., $15). The buzz from the ever-reliable Pitchfork says it's a Guatemalan quartet whose hits include "Tren Desbocado," "Oro Negro" and "La Miseria Incorporado." Also, rumor has it the singer once dated Salma Hayek. Music lovers are urged to take a good look in the mirror before attending.

mere coincidence on some of the words I'm guessing, but this song talks about mirrors (FWIW)

Well I was hoping for an Overreactors-type show but it doesn't seem like that will be the case. Maybe debut more/all of the new album?

Pretty sure that the stressing to look in a mirror is a strong hint that the name of the band "Luos Mulysa", when reversed in a mirror, is actually Soul Asylum.

No idea why they are being so secretive about it.

Never heard of them but the First Ave site lists an opening act:
