Re: Song versus song

Actually, a stiletto is a type of dagger. Shoes with slender, pointed heels are called stilettos because the heels resemble the shape of that dagger's blade.

Because of "stabbing," I think the stiletto in "Bittersweetheart" is meant to be a dagger, not a shoe.

Butting out now. :)

Re: Then and Now

Then: "You were thinking I was distressed about some universal press, but I was just distressed about my last pinball game."* Now: "Even though I wonder why I let it keep me up all night when people are gonna start treating people right." * Yes, there are plenty of songs from this era to suggest tha...

Re: the Silver Lining appreciation thread

I understand what you mean, spodiba, and I totally agree. I never questioned why he's happier now... it seems obvious. I guess most people are a lot more stable by the time they reach their 40's than when they are in their 20's or even 30's obviously because then you might still be finding your way...

Re: the Silver Lining appreciation thread

Sometime to Return, I actually agree with almost everything you said. If you check back to my post in the favorite album poll , you'll see that I have nothing but praise for Grave Dancer's Union . CrazyLittleWoman ...disdain Grave Dancer's Union for being "too commercial" and "too pop." Disdain isn’...

Re: the Silver Lining appreciation thread

The only "negative" aspect for me is that it doesn't have many sad songs, like on previous SA albums, and I always prefer the more melancholic songs. I guess what I mean is more ''angst driven'' songs about personal situations like for example a Nothing to Write Home About, I Did My Best, See You L...

Sara, thank you so much for posting the link to that thought-provoking interview. I'm so glad I got to hear it. That interviewer asked great questions.

And I'm glad you got to speak to Dave. :)

Re: Song versus song

Both excellent songs, but I must vote for an unreleased/outtake song as the best "bodily fluids" songs: Die In Your Arms )(A flailing, lost, delerious sperm, a semen lost at sea.) :D Die In Your Arms is not only a lovely sounding song to listen to, but it is also a superb example of Dave's unique, ...

Re: This is why I hate Detroit

I went on an urbex/photography trip to detroit right before I moved to New Orleans....y'know..the murder capital of the world? But yeah....being chased by a rain of bullets as you run down the street is not something to cause the heart to grow fond. I hate detroit. Well, yeah, there is that. Cars, ...
