2008 July 25 - Lumberjack Days, Stillwater, MN

Post by Moto Geek »

So I hop on the ol' puter here this morning to read everybodys "Lumberjack Days" posts and there aren't any (yet)?

Maybe those alligators that Dave mentioned snapped ya'll up and you didn't make it home to post here.

I got to meet clammers at the show. We even rode the same free shuttle on the way home. lol I saw "Promises" and her gang up front but never bumped into ya to say hi.

Soul Asylum sure seemed to have a damn good time playing this gig. Mike and Dave really joked around a lot. Tommy was doing his trademark "jump" as well. Dan enjoyed a Budweiser or two during the show and had a super cool pair of sunglasses. 8-)

Easy Street was fun to hear played again. Tommy really looked like he was having fun playing that. I think that it was during Black Gold that Dave was jumping around like a Tazmanian Devil and knocked his mike stand over.

And how about those cool tattoos we all got that proved we were there?

How do you afford your rock n' roll lifestyle?

I was there, it was my 9 month old son's first Rock Show! Because of this we were a ways back from the stage, but he had a great time.

In my opinion, SA plays two types of shows, those that Royally Rock! And those that are maybe a little lackluster in the rock department, but are "fun" gigs. Last night was one of the latter. It was great seeing Tommy and hearing Easy Street, but otherwise it was just a fun outdoor gig with no real standout performances. The sound wasn't great there either, but I know the rain messed the equipment up.

Oh yeah, and since when did SA open for the Bodeans? These bands have a long history together, and always it was SA headlining with the Bodeans playing the earlier slot. I had to work this morning and had my baby boy, so I was happy to get away earlier, but I tend to think the show would have been more rocking if they were the final performance of the night.

Anyway, it was a fun show and I'm glad my son enjoyed it!

souly for sure should have headlined.
i am not a bodeans fan, at all.
i disagree on their performance though, they rocked. tommy and michael are a perfect fit and dave's voice sounded great as well as his guitar playing. the only thing i wish is that a. they would have headlined and played longer with an encore and b. more songs off and the horse and hangtime....
overall it was a solid a.

Thanks for the pics and video! Sounds like a fun time was had by all who were there. :)

So frustrated. Get up anyway.
So complicated. Changes every day.

So the darkness fades
And the light, will come shining through.
